Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the Host/Cashier is to accurately handle cash register transactions
and ensure guests are greeted cheerfully and seated in a timely manner. They also serve as the
restaurant’s first and last impression and must make sure guests thoroughly enjoy their dining
experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Greet customers in a prompt and courteous manner and thank them upon departure.
· Determine the number in a party, accurately post transaction on cash register, and make
appropriate change.
· Seat as quickly as possible. If there is a waiting period, ensure guest always has maximum
comfort.
· Properly rotate server stations when seating guests (requires knowledge of server abilities).
· Assist service staff in making certain tables are cleared and cleaned after each use and are set
properly. Make sure all areas are clean and free of debris.
· Fill condiments as needed.
· Answer telephones using proper phone etiquette as described in CET standards
· Count out cash drawer at end of shift.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional
manner.
· Must present a neat and professional appearance.
· Work requires attention to detail and accuracy.
· Work requires interactions with customers, public and co-workers.
· Work requires use of a computer and/or cash register.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
· Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
· Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke.
· Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance according to schedule
· Fast paced environment, multiple tasks to be handled under time constraint.
· Must be able to handle a heavy business volume, and sensitive situations relating to staff and
guest problems, in a timely manner
